Geography and Pack Information

Portland, Oregon- The county seat of Multnomah settled just away from the Pacific ocean, surrounded entirely by forest with large mountains to the east. What is largely considered the most 'green' city in the United States is both environmentally friendly and literally so. While large buildings and massive, sprawling metropolitan areas do make up most of the city, the multitude of bodies of water and city parks and gardens make Portland one of the most foliage-rich entities in the country. It would be difficult to find a city whose metropolitan area reached above 2 Million people that conjoined the urban expanse and nature so well.

It's unsurprising that Spirits flock in droves to this place.

Portland - and the area around it - boasts a total of three particularly large Loci. One in the middle of the eastern forest, one along the shore to the west, and one nestled firmly in the middle of the city itself. Each Loci is owned by the three local Packs. We'll get to them in a bit.


The Portland Metropolitan Area is actually broken up into many smaller cities. However, for the sake of simplicity, we'll categorize the city by it's main economic standards. While Portland itself may be a wonderful place in the real world, the World of Darkness holds many more secrets. Buried just beneath the green and the 'eco-friendly' stance is a world of drug abuse and horrendous acts. Even the nicest portions of the city have their share of business men who ruin just as much as they help build. That's not even counting the ones that aren't human. All in all, the city can be broken up into two segments: The East, and the West.


It's difficult to call the Eastern portion of the city a slum, as the streets are generally clean and the druggies are neatly hidden away. But, that's not say it's safe. Junkies dance the night away in the multitude of night clubs that litter the area. You wouldn't be the first person to go missing after taking a night stroll through the urban parks. Probably wouldn't be the last, either. The East covers the area of Portland east of the river that bisects the city roughly in the middle. A wide river heads farther east towards the mountains- which happens to be the border between Oregon and Washington State. For all intents and purposes, however, treat the city north of the river as Portland as well.Resting in the middle of the river there is the Government Island State Park which holds both the Player Character's Lodge, as well as the City's Locus.


At a glance, the West isn't much different than the east. Tall buildings bordered by forest on one side, farms to the north, and the city on the others resembles it's sister half magnificently. The main difference, however, is the West acts as the cities Business hub. Large companies work out of this portion of the city, polluting the air (only very barely, of course, this is a green city) with their factories and the ego's of their CEO's. The western portion of the city extends a good distance south, as well, until eventually hitting Salem. It wouldn't be suggested to walk the streets of the West side alone at night, but, if you had to pick one, it would be the way to go. That doesn't mean you aren't going to get abducted, it just means you're more likely to die much, much faster if you do.


The surrounding forests explode almost immediately after leaving the city. One of which heads west, towards the coastline. It is here that the Brotherhood of Roses operates and holds another Locus. Knight County Park, the closest park to the coast, holds this pack's Lodge, rests less than a twenty minute run from the coast where the Locus lies.


While the mountain Locus isn't actually on the mountains, it is the most easily discernible feature about the area. While the forest ends on the opposite side of the city with a gentle decline until it hits the ocean, this area is accosted by a sudden outburst of jagged mountain ranges and dense, sprawling forests. The Locus - as well as <Enter Pack Name Here>'s Lodge - are situated in the middle of the forest itself, making it difficult for any outsider to make their way there. Other Uratha have been known to get lost if they'd never been there before.

The Portland area is broken up into three Packs - one group for each of the local Loci. The Player Characters all belong to one pack- The Flumen Spiritibus - at least for now. Nearly all of the Uratha in the area live in the city, though there are a few who do have residences just outside of town. The other two packs are located in the two opposite directions out of town, the Brotherhood of Roses is generally located in the western forest, with their Lodge and Locus found just beside the coast. The Dusk Stalkers are located deep in the eastern forest, a good distance between both the city limits and the mountains farther out.



The Rose Brotherhood was founded about the same time Portland was give the 'City of Roses' as a nickname. Many think of eco-friendly politics and ways of life when they think of the Green City, but the Brothers and Sisters take it to a whole level. While many other Uratha have considered these members something akin to 'hippies', only the foolish have taken them lightly. While they don't particularly excel at the physical aspects of protecting their land, they are the local experts on dealing with dangerous and deadly Spirits. The Brothers are indulgent. They're carefree. But they're not something to be taken lightly. Naira Maiara is the Pack Leader, and the owner of their beach-side Lodge that they gather at for all important meetings (parties).


The Dusk Stalkers weren't always the malicious, violent group they are today. Many Uratha blame Gregor Ivanov - the man who took over after the old pack leader died some five years prior - for the sudden rise in hostilities. There's nothing specific, or even real about the rumors of the Stalkers intending to take the other Loci- yet. But a rumor always has some merit. Not a whole lot is known about the Stalkers rites or rituals, as they're generally the most secretive of the bunch. Very few Uratha who aren't members of their pack have ever actually found their Lodge, which is considerable due to the people who have lived there for so long.


The Flumen Spiritibus pack was founded about the same time as the Brotherhood of Roses. Their Locus and Lodge are located a good distance into East Side on the Government Island State Park- a local, large, fishing/camp ground only accessible by boat. Before the city became more modernized, the river used to get rather dangerous during the rainy months.
